Dr. Philip Slate is a graduate of Lipscomb University, Harding University's Graduate School of Religion, and Fuller Theological Seminary's School of Missions. He has long been interested in the practice, study, and teaching of global evangelism. After serving as a missionary in the UK for a decade (1961-71) he returned to the USA to teach Preaching and Missiology for 27 years at Harding's Graduate School of Religion in Memphis (21 years) and Abilene Christian University, where he also served as Chair of the Missions Department (6 years). He has written for most of the brotherhood's major periodicals, edited and contributed to Perspectives on Worldwide Evangelization, with Stan Granberg wrote Reaching Russia, and most recently authored for Missions Resource Network (Bedford, TX) a Missions Handbook for Local Churches (2008). Currently he lives in Cordova, TN and serves as missions consultant and trainer for church of Christ.
