One such issue within the fellowship of the children of God is that of centralization and institutionalism. It has been the occasion now of three major divisions within the body of Christ.

If future generations are to be spared the bitterness and heartbreak of division, and are to be kept sound in doctrine and practice, they must be knowledgeable of the arguments and consequences of error. For this reason, the author has set himself to the task of briefly summarizing the essence of the controversy in his time.
